BUILDING
The world of construction we encountered when we arrived to the Gambia was so different from what we expected. Handmade concrete, pen-on-paper construction plan, volunteers from the community...
Because construction, like culture, is different in every corner of the planet.
Discover the development of the projects of the elementary clasrooms and the toilets in Basori from the map to the final touches.

WATER AND CHANNELLING
The water supply in the school is possible thanks to a 21 m deep well in which there is a
submersible pump installed that carries the water onto elevated tank raised 5 m height.
In this way, enough pressure is reached at every point of consumption currently needed and
soon-to-be build as we explain in the section.
See the details.

ENERGY
The school has an energy supply generated by solar photovoltaic panels, a common resource in the country due to the high solar irradiation available.
The installation is made up of 15 photovoltaic polycrystalline panels model Vikram ELDORA VSP.60.AAA.03.04, financed and installed thanks to the collaboration of Fundación EKI.
How is it carried out and how does it impact a town without light?
PLAYGROUND
When we think about our time in school, we probably have the best memories on the playground
instead of in class.
The playground has a fundamental role in the development of the student as it contributes to the growth of social and leisure relationships.

what is yet to come.

FENCING AND WALLS
In a rural community as Basori's, the enclosure of the school's plot is not done just because the law dictates it but also because it is essential for the safety of the
students avoiding the access of country animals that
may be "little domestic".
Closing a plot that has an area equivalent to a running track implies a constructive and economic challenge.
Here we explain it step by step.

GROUND CONDITIONING
The community offered a uninhabited space for the creation of the school compound. Everything went smoothly until we saw the lot with our own eyes. They called it "the jungle".
Here you can see how between the volunteers from local families, operators, spanish volunteers
and some heavy machinery we created a natural and habitable environment so that
hundreds of children can go to school.
BUILDERS AND INSTALLATION CREW
The success of this construction project at all levels is due to the pursuit of excellence in everything we do; and this includes the selection of the builders and installation crew.
Contractors of all kinds, always locals, made it possible: builders, plumbers, smiths, electricians...
They are all part of the team and here you can get to know them first-hand.
